On Sunday 1st July 2018, (the 102nd anniversary of the Battle of The Somme), and as part of our community commemoration to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, Romanby Parish Council held two events for all Romanby residents on that day.

Weekend of 17/18 November 2018 - Volunteers Needed! Please save the date and join us if you can during the weekend of 17-18 November (exact times to be confirmed) as we plant 60.....yes 60 new saplings (dogrose, hawthorn, hazel, crab apple, elder) at the Leisure Ground and Wildflower Meadow on Ainderby Road.
Easter Art Exhibition

The Y5/6 pupils at Romanby Primary School have been busy with their modern interpretation of Easter through Art....on display in St James Church, Romanby during the week 15-19 April (Mon & Thurs 10-2pm, Tue & Wed 10-12pm) Drop in if you get a chance!
2019 UCI World Championships
Date: 25 September 2019, 1:00pm - 4:00pm
As many of you will know (and following the success of last year's Tour de Yorkshire), the UCI Road World Championships are coming to Yorkshire in September this year - and Romanby in particular on Wednesday 25th September from about 1-3pm. The Men's Elite Time Trial sets off from Northallerton, and does the "reverse TdY" route through Romanby - we will be supporting this great event, which have loads of media coverage, with bunting and banners along the route. More to come - but a date for the dairy for the moment!!

Our beacon-lighting event in the Memorial Garden as part of a nationwide lighting of some 1500 beacons for the start of the jubilee long weekend!
The Romanby DDay80 Beacon Lighting Ceremony
Date: 6 June 2024, 8:45pm - 10:00pm
Save the date and join us for this historic anniversary, where we remember the brave men and women from 80 years ago, with stories and memories, and light a beacon at 9.15pm as part of a nationwide event.
