Car Parking Issues In Romanby - RPC Next Steps
Car Parking Issues In Romanby – Romanby Parish Council Next Steps
At our April 2026 Full Council meeting we formally agreed to take the lead in calling together a multi-agency meeting (like we did back in 2017) to discuss the wide-ranging issues around car parking in the Parish, exacerbated since the closure of the 60-space car park on the Arla land on Ainderby Road.
We (RPC) are inviting senior representatives from North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Council, Highways and Network Rail, to allow everyone present to get a full understanding of the issues, and the true art of the possible (rather than just opinion and conjecture) when it comes to what can be done to improve the situation.
We are fully aware of the concerns and complaints made by residents to both us and the police and will ensure they are all discussed. Options such as resident parking schemes, increased yellow/double yellow lines etc will all be on the table for discussion, and we will be looking for definitive statements and positions on all the possible measures that could be taken, which we will then brief out to residents and take forward if at all possible.
We last facilitated these discussions in 2017, and it is now time to revisit the whole parking debate in the Parish, as much has changed in the intervening 9 years.
Once we have had the meeting (which may not be for a few weeks yet, depending on agency availability), we will rapidly report out to residents on the facts presented and decisions taken/agreed.
We are trying to be proactive here around an issue that we (RPC) and you have little or no control over. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
More when we have it,
Stuart Bradnam, Chairman RPC,
On behalf of your Parish Council Team.
